The Story and State of Revyver

June.30th.2008 • 2:33AM No Comments

This is the story of a guy and the history of his company. While noticing that he never really explained the background behind the company, he decided to take care of that as well as talk about the change from one dream to another. It’s a pseudo-long and personal story that stresses one of the company’s adjectives—transparency.

As the little firm that could turns two tomorrow, I wanted to be able to take a step back and take a look at what got it where it was today. If nothing else, this is a moment of self-reflection for me. As I’ve told those closest to me since turning 25 almost three months ago, I’ve learned to be a lot more honest with myself about what I can and cannot do. The direction that Revyver’s taken even in that time span has been greatly affected by my state of mind. With that said, this ...

Weather Center Live

This is the story of a guy looking back into his past, where he used to be his high school’s meteorologist. It’s a short and disjointed story with video footage of an 18-year-old version of said guy, which isn’t that much different from the present day version.

In what seems to be a long time ago, I used to be a high schooler.

As many of you already know, I attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School which resided in the typical upscale township of Bridgewater, New Jersey. No, my family wasn’t what you would call upscale. The typical New Jersey township is split into two sections, the valley and the hills. If you lived on the hills, you were rich. If you didn’t, you were not. I say this because every New Jersey town I ever visited fit that mold. For every magnitude of elevation, you ...

The Subject of Relevance

June.1st.2007 • 12:00AM No Comments

This is the story about a guy and relevance. Fortunately, it’s not about the fact that he has a hard time spelling the word as much as the premise of how to mark relevance in blog posts. He’s even taken it as far as to add a feature surrounding entry relevance.

The subject of relevance has been floating in my mind for the past few weeks, off and on. Why? I’m not too sure, other than to attribute the thoughts to the overall reasoning for wanting to wipe this slate clean in the first place. As everybody who blogs knows, the blog is based on a descending chronological structure. New posts come in, old posts go down and fall into the back of the blog’s memory. Archives allow you to access the past, to do anything from compare the difference in writing styles to find that article on ...

A Love-Money Relationship

May.11th.2007 • 10:51PM No Comments

This is the story, actually the history of a guy and what has happened to him in his career thus far. He compares his love for a particular job with the amount of money he makes. Is it a direct relationship? Is it a sane one? Probably.

Work is love made visible. And if you can’t work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of the people who work with joy.

~ Kahlil Gibran

It’s funny sometimes. I look back at my education, and I wonder if spending four years in college studying entrepreneurship was the right thing to do. Do I regret it? Nah. But I would certainly say at this stage that I’m not a normal entrepreneur, if you’d call me that ...

Logos of Times Gone By

June.17th.2006 • 10:41AM No Comments

This is the story of a guy and some logos. Specifically, logos that he made a long time ago. The Wayback Machine did something right and saved said logos and the time has come to show them off.

Archive.org did something right for once. It kept images of logos I did from Version 12 (ChaoticSoul) of Avalonstar, so I decided the world see something that I used to be able to do. Back in 2002, I was really big on making logos, so much so that I made 5 of those that you’ll see below in one day. (Man, I miss those days when inspiration really ran free.) I believed the streak came to an end when I finally decided on using the Phoenix logo for Avalonstar. Ever since then, I haven’t designed any ...

Where Was I?

April.11th.2006 • 3:12PM No Comments

This is the story of a guy and a meme. The meme is asking where said guy was 10 years, 5 years and 1 year ago. The guy reminisces again and elaborates on some of the lesser told stories of his history.

Although I was really trying to keep myself from doing meme’s, the one that Jeff Croft (but apparently Dan Rubin beat him to it) tagged me with provided me with a bit of a challenge. For one, it has been a while since I’ve thought so far back, and two, doing so would offer me some time to reminisce. However, unlike Jeff’s answers, I’ll be presenting mine backwards, as I’m sure you’d like to discover more about the 13-year-old Bryan than the 22-year-old Bryan.

Where was I ten years ago?

Ten years ago ...

Reminiscing

September.11th.2005 • 7:08PM No Comments

This is the story of two guys who had an IM conversation one day that connected their past a little more than they would have thought. They reminisce about the last era of this website and the friends it had—comparing it to the present.

I don’t know what it is about me and Benzinger but it seems like we get into the weirdest conversations about the “good ‘ol days.” Then again, I like to reminisce about those days and see how far I’ve come. That whole “knowing your past before creating your future,” kind of thing. So this was the first time this happened:

Brian: do you remember anything resembling… xist, xotech, xpired, xposure, xposed, etc back in the day? Me: Um… Brian: like.. a few years back, maybe 4 or 5. Brian: well, my brother said he remembers you from ...

Wayback Follies

August.14th.2005 • 5:30PM No Comments

This is the story of a guy and a website. The website in question is known for not doing the job it was made to do, as it likes to lose the history it was created to index. Said guy tries to cope with the eventual loss of his old websites by said underachiever.

As much as I’d like to say I’m a fanatic of forward-thinking, I am a lover of history. This story in particular focuses on the history of the sites I visit, and why I seemed to get the short end of the stick.

In freshman year of college, I got infected by my first virus and oddly it corrupted all my CSS and JPG files. So pretty much any site I had designed from 2000 to 2002 was gone. Sure I still had the code, but it wasn’t the same without the images. Fast forward to ...
