This is the story of a guy and a broom. One’s virtual, and he hopes to use that to sweep up some of the messes he’s left behind over the past few weeks. The other is physical, since he actually has some cleaning to do around the “office.”

While Seattle is finally noticing that spring has arrived, albeit a month before summer starts, it’s time for some spring cleaning. As for me, I just got back from a 14-day, 3-city travel stint that has completely stolen the energy out of me. Thankfully, June will be a month of no travel and one of “hopefully” a lot more activity here at Avalonstar. Still so many things I need to do, and the recent WebVisions conference in Portland was a welcome wake-up call to the things I still need to get to!

So things I’ll be doing?

  • Consolidating my email accounts on Revyver’s Google Apps account.

  • Working on tweaks for Avalonstar (or 25.1).

  • Building the next revision of Django Plugables.

  • Yet another version of bryanveloso.com (the current one has grown old very quickly).

  • Starting on a few of those visual blog posts I’ve talked about.

  • Cleaning the damn house, and my damn desk. Yes, actual cleaning.

  • Finding a way to stop the damn dust from settling.

What will you be doing? (Or, what have you already done?)

distort the message.

getting started with my first summer web design job. looking forward to doing some real projects. i’m also planning on building a portfolio/blog, but I’m not sure what the best way to go about it is. should I try Wordpress, or some other CMS, or django like you did(im assuming this blog was made using django, am i right?)? Any suggestions?

I guess, the more i think about this, i should probably learn PHP and/or Python to do this. Maybe I’ll start with that. :)

    • Passing my exams
    • Learning to blog under great senseis (sensii?) such as yourself (I try to keep arse kissing to a minimum but you deserve it. ^^ I love the tone and the intro paragraph on each post. A younger me would have been tempted to nick - or I mean, er, glean - or glean this idea from you. Now I appreciate individuality ^^).
    • Continuing my yoga.
    • Rearranging and generally being overly finicky whilst rearranging my room (I enjoy tidying when it’s MY stuff).
    • Using my newly gained freedom from most lessons for social exploits.

All’s good in the hood and all plans are on track.

    Sweeeeet.

While June won’t be a month of any traveling for you, it would seem that you have your plate full enough to keep you busy all summer, remember all work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy Hope you save time for a little fun in the sun, a little sun a good for a person, full of vitamin D and all that good stuff, just remember the sunblock, kind of seems redundant doesn’t it? Anyway, good luck with your lengthy task list. Betsy Buchanan
